From savory side dishes to gourmet desserts made from scratch, Elephants Delicatessen uses local ingredients to bring a delicious, homemade taste to your kitchen. Founded in 1979 by highschool sweethearts Ann and Scott Weaver, Elephants Delicatessen has become a Portland go-to spot for locals and tourists alike. It was the first specialty food store in the area — in fact, there were very few in the United States at this time — and today is considered a pioneer in the gourmet food space. About 90% of their ingredients come from within a 200-mile radius, so even the simplest kinds of dishes are elevated by the freshness and detailed approach of their recipes.

Elephants Delicatessen has been a leader in sustainable practices since its founding over 40 years ago, and in 2015, officially became a certified B Corporation. This means the business meets a higher standard of transparency, accountability, and performance, using the power of business to solve social and economic problems.
