Ferndale’s baby turkeys, called poults, are initially cared for in a heated brooder barn (kept at a balmy 98° F!) to maximize healthy growth during the early stage of life. As they grow, they are slowly introduced to the great outdoors. When the turkeys are old enough, they are transitioned to a free-range environment with plenty of room to roam outdoors. In Minnesota’s summer months, they live completely on pasture and are rotated to fresh new grass each week.

During the temperate months, they are rotated to fresh pasture so they have access to clean air and fresh grass. Each Ferndale turkey has been raised antibiotic-free and with room to roam on family farms in Minnesota - so you can feel good knowing you’re feeding your family the very best.
