We have the best customers. Sure, you have great taste when it comes to meat, but you also care about the world and each other. When it comes to the environment, we're all in this together and we have a responsibility to take care of our planet for future generations. One part we can play is to help stop climate change.

Starting today, I'm excited to say we are fully offsetting the carbon impact of every order.  Your orders on Crowd Cow are now 100% carbon neutral.

You brought back the joy of eating meat. Better tasting, better for the environment, better for the animals. I don't know what I'd do if you guys weren't here. I can't raise my own livestock!

How does it work?

To be carbon neutral, we have to reduce carbon dioxide by as much as we're emitting into the atmosphere. For every order, we fund projects that remove or avoid producing greenhouse gases to offset the emissions associated with that order — from the field all the way to your doorstep.

We're working with the Arbor Day Foundation, the largest nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to planting trees, to fund two specific verified carbon credit projects.

The first is reforesting depleted farmland in the Mississippi River Valley. The benefits of this project are vast: improving water quality, increasing the habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife, and removing excess carbon emissions in the atmosphere. This project also contributes to local economies in states from Illinois down the river to Louisiana.

The second project is protecting threatened forest lands at the headwaters of the Amazon in Peru. This protects the climate as well as the local ecosystem and native species, all while providing jobs in sustainable cocoa and coffee production.

Both of these projects are carefully administered to ensure that the money is well spent, and audited by a third party to determine exactly how much carbon has been accounted for.

How is the carbon footprint of an order determined?

With the help of the Arbor Day Foundation and their partners, we analyzed every aspect of what goes into an order — methane released by the animals and their manure, transportation and processing of the meat, the energy used by our freezers, the packaging and dry ice we use to keep your product safe, and the emissions from the delivery truck bringing it to your doorstep. All of this is taken into account, and the work you are supporting through your purchase reduces the carbon in the atmosphere more than these activities contribute to it.

This is just one of many ways we're working to help the environment. We feature farms practicing regenerative agriculture, raising animals and crops that work together to actively reduce carbon emissions. We give you access to farms in your part of the country, supporting local agriculture. And we use fully recyclable and compostable packaging so your food arrives safely without hurting the planet.

We're dedicated to doing right by our customers, the farmers, the animals and the environment. Being carbon neutral helps all of us protect the planet while enjoying the meat and seafood we love.

Thank you so much for being a part of this!

The beef is amazing! I love doing something great for my family but also doing something great for the animals and environment we live in.
