A Free-Range Lifestyle
Ferndale’s baby turkeys, called poults, are initially cared for in a heated brooder barn (kept at a balmy 98° F) to maximize healthy growth during the early stages of life. As they grow, they are gradually introduced to the great outdoors.
When old enough, they transition to a free-range environment with plenty of room to roam. During Minnesota’s summer months, they live completely on pasture and are rotated to fresh new grass each week.
