How to Cook a New York Strip

This recipe for a New York Strip steak is simple but delicious. The steak is marbled and tender, and it cooks quickly in a cast-iron skillet.

  • 12 oz New York Strip steak
  • Oil
  • Salt & pepper

10 minutes


  1. Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat.
  2. Lightly oil and season both sides of your thawed steak with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook on one side for 4 minutes
  4. Flip and cook an additional 4 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 135℉
  5. Remove from heat and let the steak rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
  6. Slice & enjoy!
