What are Shrimp?

Shrimp, also known as prawns in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and some other countries, are a popular seafood protein. These decapods are crustaceans within the class Malacostraca; there are about 2,000 different species worldwide. On average a 3-once portion of shrimp has about 70 calories, 15 grams of protein, and less than 1 gram of fat. Shrimp are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, selenium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, and vitamin B6. A shrimp’s nutrition can depend on how it lived and what it ate.
