How to Cook Japanese Wagyu Chuck Steak

Wagyu chuck is rich enough that all it needs is salt, heat, and ninety seconds a side.

0m 40s

A minimalist approach for Japanese Wagyu chuck — high heat, salt, and a quick sear to let the marbling do the work.

Directions

  1. Let the steak come to room temperature.
  2. Season with salt.
  3. Bring a stainless steel or cast-iron pan to medium-high heat.
  4. Place the chuck steak in the pan.
  5. Sear for 1 minute 30 seconds per side, or until it reaches your preferred internal temperature.
  6. Remove from the pan and slice.
