A hearty Italian-American crowd-pleaser — juicy meatballs simmered in marinara, piled into a toasted hoagie, and finished with melted mozzarella.

Method

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. 2
In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, and seasonings and mix well. Add in meat and egg, then mix gently with your hands until well incorporated. Create about 12, 1-inch meatballs (the size of golf balls) from mix and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. 3
Bake about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  4. 4
In a large saucepan, add sauce and bring to a simmer. Add cooked meatball to the sauce.
  5. 5
Toast sliced hoagie or baguette, then spoon 3-4 meatballs and sauce over to create a sub. Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
  6. 6
Broil subs for 2 minutes until cheese is melted and is beginning to brown.
  7. 7
    Serve immediately.
