Dungeness Crab arrives as pre-cooked individual legs. Each leg has score marks, making prep as simple as snap and eat — no crab crackers needed.
Steps
- Find the score on the thin end of the leg. Push on the opposite side of the score to snap it. Set the broken-off piece aside to use as a tool for picking meat if you'd like.
- Take the translucent piece around the shoulder. Peel it away, trying to keep as much meat as possible.
- Snap the score just below the shoulder piece to remove the knuckle. Pull the meat from the shell.
- Repeat on the opposite end, leaving the flat middle piece of the leg intact.
- Snap off the bottom knuckle. You'll see a tendon at the top of this piece. Remove the meat and set aside.
- Take the final piece and snap it by pushing on the opposite side of the score. Slide the shells off — this is the best piece of meat.
- Collect all the de-shelled crab and enjoy.
