How to Cook Halibut

Pan-fry halibut in olive oil for crispy edges and tender, flaky flesh in under 10 minutes — finish to 145°F internal.

A Crowd Cow Field Guide

Pan fry your halibut for one of the best ways to enjoy this flavorful fish. With just olive oil and a hot skillet, you can prepare crispy goodness in less than 10 minutes. Our favorite way to serve halibut is with avocado and fresh corn salsa.

Steps

Season with salt and pepper and coat in olive oil.

Heat up olive oil in a stainless steel pan to medium-high — until oil is shimmering.

Place skin side down and cook about 4-6 minutes.

Once the fillet edges start to get cooked, flip it over.

Cook for about 2-4 more minutes or until internal temperature reaches 145°F.

Remove and serve.
