How to Pan-Sear Salmon

Crispy on top, perfectly cooked through — a simple stovetop method for salmon fillets.

A Crowd Cow Field Guide

Pan-seared salmon is golden and crispy on top and perfectly cooked through the center. It's a super easy method, and we love it paired with rice, seared onions, and bok choy.

Season the fillets with salt and pepper and coat in olive oil.

Heat olive oil in a stainless steel pan over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering.

Place the salmon skin-side down and cook about 4–6 minutes.

Once the edges of the fillet start to look cooked, flip it over.

Cook for about 2–4 more minutes.

Remove and serve.
