Kurobuta: The Best of the Midwest

Extraordinary marbling, tenderness and juiciness are what True Story’s Kurobuta Pork is known for. The Kurobuta breed, also known as Berkshire, comes from a heritage line of old-world genetics — so it’s very rare you’ll find this type of pork at your grocery store. With a deep rosy coloring, fine-grained marbling, hint of sweetness and superior texture, it’s no wonder why this pork is the top choice of chefs and restaurants! True Story works with a network of family farms in the Midwest to bring this exceptional pork to you, farms dedicated to raising their hogs humanely with the highest welfare standards. Their pigs are raised outdoors with bedded pens, crate-free, and never receive antibiotics — which is better for the animal, better for the environment, and better for you.

About True Story Foods

True Story Foods is a Fairfield, California-based company committed to providing healthy and sustainable natural and organic food. The company is on a mission to do business in a way that supports farmers, producers, and growers so that it can create a sustainable future for generations to come. All meat comes from animals raised humanely without antibiotics or added hormones. Products are crafted from clean ingredients and without the use of synthetic nitrates or nitrites, artificial ingredients, or preservatives.

About Our Family Farms

Our farming network started as a small coalition of family farmers in the lush foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Now it extends to 150 family farmers in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Arkansas, all of whom follow the same ethos of respect for the animals and the land. We’ve remained independent from large agribusinesses and large vertical integration systems and intend to continue operating that way. Pride in our work, and our way of doing things the right way — not necessarily the fast way — is what unites us. By supporting True Story, you’re supporting sustainable farming communities dedicated to raising meat right.
