Setting the Standard for Seafood Since 1910
Ocean Beauty began their journey in the seafood business over 100 years ago when they opened a small shop along Seattle’s waterfront — then called the Washington Fish and Oyster company. They’ve expanded over the years, now sourcing from the Alaskan waters and all along the western coastline, but have always had the same mission: to bring customers the very best quality seafood in the most sustainable ways possible. Certified by the Alaska Responsible Fisheries Management program and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), which set strict standards for fisheries management, Ocean Beauty continues to lead the way in wild-caught seafood sustainability, working in ways to preserve the health and vitality of fish stocks, protect the environment, and reduce their impact on the earth and ocean.
The Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation
Ocean Beauty is owned by the Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation (BBEDC), a non-profit comprised of an accomplished group of seafood industry veterans that works to develop fishery-related opportunities for residents of 17 western Alaskan villages. Half of Ocean Beauty’s profits go to support the economic development of theses villages through training, education and other fisheries investments (for docks, harbors, seafood processing facilities and more) so that the local residents can maintain the culture and traditional way of life, and keep it thriving for future generations.
